Volunteer

There are many ways to get involved in the work of Haverhill Promise!

• Our School Attendance Working Group works closely with our schools and meets monthly to discuss innovative solutions to help decrease chronic absenteeism.

• Our School Readiness Working Group includes both public and private pre-school providers, as well as providers of children’s services and meets monthly to generate ideas that will help prepare young children for school.

• Our Summer Learning Working Group meets monthly to look at the current programs that are offered in out of school time and seeks ways to promote summer learning and literacy to help prevent the “summer slide.”

• Many community members/organizations have taken on the task of Book Collection and Distribution. Individuals have built Little Free Libraries, and businesses are participating with book drives, and other creative solutions for getting books into Haverhill homes.

• Book Buddies - Sign up to be a buddy to a Haverhill third-grader and exchange a book and a letter three times a year.

• Event Support - We are always looking for folks we can call on to help with our literacy events throughout the year!
