Our Focus Areas

School Readiness 

School readiness encompasses a wide range of factors that all impact how a child performs when they start school. These include the health of the child, access to early education, and the number of books in their household. By age three, roughly 85% of the brain's core structure is formed, yet most investments in education focus on K-12. We have a variety of partners throughout the community dedicated to ensuring that every child in Haverhill is ready for school. 

Summer learning 

Low- income students lose on average more than two months in reading achievement during the summer. We want to eradicate this disadvantage through creating one front door that encompasses all summer learning opportunities. To do this, we will expand both our partnerships between schools and youth organizations and focus on more than just test preparation. 

School Attendance 

School attendance is a vital first step to ensure learning. It is our priority to improve school attendance, and in order to do that we must engage families and improve transportation. We must also track and share data across organizations to increase efficiency and close loopholes.
