Haverhill Promise provides free books to community partners and families
With your generous donations we work to build home libraries to foster a culture of literacy by:
Providing access to age-appropriate books and collections in our communities
Sparking student engagement with diverse and culturally representative books for all Haverhill students
Empowering families to build their children’s literacy skills with reading practice every night in their homes
Keeping our community organizations stocked with book options wherever families are showing up
Need Books? Take a Look!
Haverhill Promise donated over 3,000 books back into our community in 2023, through events, partners, and family programs, and in 2024, we have donated an additional 7,000 books across our city! If you are looking for a book donation for an event or have specific needs, reach out to us to see how we can be of support.
There are also a variety of sources for free and low-cost gently used books in Haverhill including the Haverhill Public Library, Little Free Library boxes, elementary schools with Book Swaps for students, and Ruth’s House Thrift Shop, which sells children’s books 5 for $1!
Looking to donate your gently used books?
Reach out via email to Haverhill Promise if you’d like to donate books directly. We are always happy to take new or gently used books and distribute them around the city and at community events. You can also donate them to a school Book Swap, Ruth’s House, or stock one of our four Little Free Libraries across Haverhill. You could even set up a Little Free Library of your own on your property! Visit the official Little Free Library website for details and best practices.
