Small Group Tutoring

at Golden Hill Elementary and tilton Elementary

During the ‘23-’24 school year, Haverhill Promise joined forces with Golden Hill Elementary to support a new tutoring program! We were able to provide 12 weeks of small group tutoring sessions for two hours each week, focusing on boosting grade-level reading skills for a cohort of 2nd grade students.

During the ‘24-’25 school year, we are scaling up our tutoring support in Haverhill — adding more schools and more students. We will be providing TWO 12 week sessions of small group tutoring at Golden Hill Elementary, and beginning our first year at Tilton Elementary with a 12 week session. We all know that every little bit counts! Together, we can empower young minds and shape brighter futures.

Special appreciation to MA State Representative Andy Vargas for advocating for earmarked funds for Haverhill Promise. With each investment we are working to make a difference directly in our community, one student at a time. Huge thanks to all our school partners, volunteers, and supporters for making this possible! Together, we're shaping brighter futures.

One-on-One Tutoring

at tilton Elementary

Haverhill Promise is proud to announce its partnership with Tilton Elementary School to expand the Ignite Reading program for the ‘24-’25 and ‘25-’26 school years. Building on the success of previous implementation in Haverhill Public Schools, Haverhill Promise is supporting additional seats in the program, ensuring more students benefit from this high-impact, evidence-based tutoring model.

For the ‘24-’25 school year, Haverhill Promise is funding an extended school year for Ignite Reading participants, providing critical literacy support to help students close reading gaps and achieve grade-level proficiency. The program will serve additional students, offering daily, 15-minute one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions aligned with the Science of Reading.

Looking ahead to the ‘25-’26 school year, Haverhill Promise will continue to support the expansion of Ignite Reading by increasing the total number of seats available. This growth aligns with our work to ensure every child in Haverhill has access to high-quality literacy interventions and achieves grade-level reading milestones, and scales programs in the city that are already doing this great work!

Through strategic partnerships with the Cogswell Club, continued advocacy with our local and state delegation, and a commitment to scaling evidence-based programs, Haverhill Promise remains dedicated to improving literacy outcomes for Haverhill’s students and building a brighter future for our community.
