In partnership with the Buttonwoods Museum , Whittier Birthplace is hosting a “Reading Frederick Douglass Together” event for Juneteenth. Community members are invited to a group reading and discussion of Frederick Douglass’s 1852 speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July"?” in the apple orchard of the Whittier Birthplace. (In the event of rain the event will move inside to the Buttonwoods Museum).
Light refreshments will be provided. Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Parking is available on the the field next to the apple orchard.
